Clean 45° miter cuts in ceramic tile and porcelain gres require two matched components — a diamond blade engineered for the bevel contact angle, and a guide system that holds the grinder at exactly 45°. Standard diamond blades used at 45° produce chipping and undercutting on the beveled face because the blade geometry and bond formula aren't designed for diagonal contact. The DiStar Edge Dry range and Mechanic SLIDER 45 and DUSTER 45 guide systems are the professional solution for clean, consistent 45° miter work.
DiStar's 45° blade range: the Edge Dry 4.5"–5" and Edge Dry Slider 5" for dry miter cutting on angle grinders — no water required, clean bevel cut on ceramic and porcelain; the Edge Diamond Blade 7"–10" for 45° work on wet tile saws where the saw tilts to the miter angle. The Galaxy 5" also supports 45° miter cutting. Mechanic's 45° guide systems: the SLIDER 45 PRO 2.0 combines the Edge Dry Slider blade with a precision guide rail as a complete kit; the DUSTER 45 provides the 45° angle guide geometry with integrated dust extraction and works with any compatible tile blade; the SLIDER 1.8" gives the narrower guide foot needed for 45° work close to walls and in tight junctions.
45° miter joints replace grout lines in curbless shower installations, feature wall tile designs, staircase tile work, and anywhere a visible corner grout line is replaced by a mitered tile joint. For straight-cut tile cutting see Tile & Porcelain Blades. For all cutting guides and dust control systems see Cutting Guards.
