Putty Knives & Scrapers for Paint & Renovation | Pro Tool Haus

Putty knives and scrapers are the workhorses of surface preparation — stripping old paint and wallpaper, applying and feathering joint compound, removing adhesive residue, and cleaning surfaces before refinishing. The right blade stiffness for the task prevents gouging surfaces while providing enough rigidity for controlled material removal. 

Flexible putty knives (1.5"–3") are used for joint compound application and feathering, where blade flex lets you flatten to a very thin edge. Stiff putty knives (2"–6") handle paint and caulk scraping, adhesive removal, and surface preparation. Wide floor scrapers remove adhesive, paint, and surface coatings from hard floors.
