Description

The final step before polish. The Proxxon K 2000 flexible sanding pads are the ultra-fine option in the Proxxon flexible pad range — designed for the last sanding pass before polishing compound is applied. At 2000 grit, they remove the micro-scratches left by coarser abrasives and leave a surface so refined that polishing compound can bring it to a true high-gloss finish. The foam body conforms to uneven and contoured surfaces, and the silicon carbide net-structure backing prevents clogging throughout the pad's life.

  • Smart-repair: Final surface refinement on automotive and surface repair work
  • Scratch removal: Removing micro-scratches left by K 1000 or other fine abrasives

K 1000 vs. K 2000 — Which Do You Need?

Both pads share the same foam body, silicon carbide abrasive, net backing, and PSA attachment — the only difference is grit:

  • K 1000 (No. 28672): Fine finishing sander — use after heavier sanding to refine the surface
  • K 2000 (No. 28674): Ultra-fine pre-polish — use after K 1000 to remove micro-scratches before polishing compound

For best results, work through both grits in sequence: K 1000 → K 2000 → polishing compound.

Frequently Asked Questions

What tools are these compatible with?
These 50mm self-adhesive pads are compatible with Proxxon tools that accept 50mm PSA sanding discs, including the Longneck Angle Grinder LHW/E.

Do I need to use K 1000 before K 2000?
Yes — jumping straight to K 2000 from a coarser abrasive will take significantly longer and may not fully remove deeper scratches. The correct sequence is: coarser abrasive → K 1000 → K 2000 → polishing compound.

What comes after K 2000?
After K 2000, apply polishing compound with the felt polishing disc or bullet-shape felt bit for a final high-gloss finish.
