Description
Rust Removal & Polish Restoration for Marble — 4-Product Maintenance Kit
The Lustro Italiano Marble Rust & Etch Remover Maintenance Kit is formulated for marble surfaces dealing with rust stains and the surface dulling that rust removal causes. Rust marks develop when metal objects contact marble in the presence of water — especially on unsealed or lightly sealed stone where rust penetrates the pores. This kit draws the rust out with a chelate poultice, then addresses the dulling side effect with a stain remover, plus cleaner and polish spray for the full maintenance routine.
For the most complete marble rust restoration including a full impregnating sealer, see the Lustro Italiano Marble Rust Remover & Restoration Kit.
What's Included
- Lustro Italiano Natural Stone Cleaner (32 oz) — clean the surface before and after treatment
- Lustro Italiano Rust Remover Powder (8 oz) — chelate-blend poultice that draws rust and iron stains out of marble pores
- Lustro Italiano Stain Remover Poultice Powder (8 oz) — draws out any accompanying organic staining from the affected area
- Lustro Italiano Stone Polish & Sealer Spray (11 oz aerosol) — restore shine and replenish sealer after treatment
How to Use
- Clean the surface with Natural Stone Cleaner and allow to dry.
- Remove the rust: Mix Rust Remover Powder with water to a paste, apply over the stain, cover with plastic wrap (poke holes), and wait 24–48 hours. Remove the dried poultice.
- Address any accompanying staining: If organic staining is also present, apply Stain Remover Poultice Powder using the same method.
- Restore shine: Use Stone Polish & Sealer Spray to restore surface luster and replenish the sealer layer.
- Reseal if needed: If the stone is unsealed or the sealer was compromised, add Lustro Italiano Stone Sealer for full impregnating protection.
Note: Rust removal on marble will dull the treated area — this is a normal side effect of the chelate chemistry. For full polish restoration after rust removal, use Lustro Italiano Etch & Water Mark Remover Powder (included in the full Restoration Kit).
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between this kit and the Marble Rust Remover & Restoration Kit?
The Marble Rust Remover & Restoration Kit includes the Etch & Water Mark Remover Powder (to restore polish after rust removal) and the Stone Sealer (for full impregnating resealing). This Maintenance Kit is a lighter version — rust remover, stain remover, cleaner, and polish spray — suited for ongoing maintenance or situations where a full reseal isn't needed.
Why does the marble look dull after rust removal?
The chelate chemistry that draws rust out of marble also removes the surface polish in the treated area. This is a normal side effect. For full polish restoration, use Lustro Italiano Etch & Water Mark Remover Powder.
Do I need to reseal after treatment?
If the stone is unsealed or the sealer was compromised by the rust penetration, resealing is recommended. Add Lustro Italiano Stone Sealer separately, or choose the full Marble Rust Remover & Restoration Kit which includes it.
Can I use this kit on granite?
The rust remover and stain remover work on granite. On granite, rust removal does not cause the same dulling effect as on marble. The cleaner and polish spray are also safe for granite.
