Description

Remove Rust Stains, Restore Polish & Reseal Marble — Complete 5-Product Kit

The Lustro Italiano Marble Rust Remover & Restoration Kit is the complete solution for one of the most challenging stain problems on marble — rust. Rust stains develop when metal objects (cans, tools, hardware, plant pots) contact marble in the presence of water, especially on unsealed or lightly sealed stone where the rust penetrates the pores.

Marble's calcium-based composition requires a specialized approach: the rust remover draws the stain out, but the chelate chemistry also dulls the surface in the treated area. This kit includes the etch remover to restore the polish after rust removal, plus the sealer to protect the restored surface — the complete three-step restoration sequence in one package.

Note: The Stone Sealer does not provide anti-etch protection on marble. Acidic substances (wine, citrus, tomato, coffee) will still etch marble surfaces. The etch remover in this kit can also be used independently to treat etch marks from acidic substances.

What's Included

The Marble Rust Restoration Sequence

  1. Clean the surface with Natural Stone Cleaner and allow to dry.
  2. Remove the rust: Mix Rust Remover Powder with water to a paste, apply over the stain, cover with plastic wrap (poke holes), and wait 24–48 hours. Remove the dried poultice — the rust stain comes with it. The treated area will appear dull — this is normal.
  3. Restore the polish: Apply Etch & Water Mark Remover Powder to the dulled area and rub by hand with a soft cloth for approximately 3 minutes until the polish is restored.
  4. Reseal: Apply Stone Sealer to the treated area (and the full surface if needed). Allow to absorb for 5 minutes, wipe off excess, and allow 6 hours before food contact.
  5. Maintain: Use Stone Polish & Sealer Spray 1–2 times per month to maintain shine and sealer protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the marble look dull after rust removal?

The chelate chemistry that draws rust out of marble also removes the surface polish in the treated area — this is a normal side effect, not a new stain. The Etch & Water Mark Remover Powder in this kit is specifically included to restore the polish after rust removal.

Can the etch remover be used for other purposes?

Yes — the Etch & Water Mark Remover Powder can be used independently to treat etch marks and water rings caused by acidic substances on marble, travertine, and limestone, separate from any rust removal work.

Does the sealer prevent future rust stains?

Sealing slows penetration of rust-causing substances into the stone's pores, giving you more time to clean up spills before they stain. It doesn't make the stone completely impervious — remove metal objects from marble surfaces and dry any water contact to prevent recurrence.

Does the sealer prevent etching?

No. Sealing protects against staining, not etching. Etching is a chemical reaction between acid and marble's calcium carbonate that sealing cannot prevent.

How long does the seal last after restoration?

4–5 years on countertops under normal use. Maintain with the Stone Polish & Sealer Spray between full treatments.
