Description

High-speed precision milling for fine work. The Proxxon MF 70 is a compact bench mill designed for the finest milling, drilling, and engraving operations in lab, optician, jewelry, electronics, and model building applications. Where the FF 230 excels at lower-speed metal milling, the MF 70 operates at 5,000–20,000 RPM — the speed range needed for the smallest end mills and finest cutters, where low-speed machines would chatter or stall. Six triple-slit hardened MICROMOT steel collets are included, and the machine's rigidity supports the use of the finest cutters without deflection.

MF 70 vs. FF 230 — Which Micro Mill Do You Need?

  • MF 70 (No. 37110) — this machine: 5,000–20,000 RPM, 7 kg, 200×70mm table. High-speed range for fine cutters, engraving bits, and precision work in jewelry, electronics, and model making. Best for small, detailed work with fine tooling.
  • FF 230 (No. 34108): 280–2,200 RPM, 17 kg, 270×80mm table. Low-speed torque for heavier cuts in steel and cast iron. Best for general metal milling with standard end mills.

Applications

  • Jewelry: Milling precious metals, engraving, and fine detail work
  • Electronics: PCB milling, enclosure work, and component modification
  • Optics & lab: Precision component fabrication for optical and scientific instruments
  • Model making: Fine milling of metal and plastic model components
  • Engraving: Surface engraving on metal, plastic, and composite materials

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the MF 70 run at higher RPM than the FF 230?
Fine end mills and engraving cutters require high surface speeds to cut cleanly without chattering or breaking. The MF 70's 5,000–20,000 RPM range is optimized for small-diameter tooling (typically under 3mm) where the FF 230's lower speeds would be too slow for clean cuts.

What collets are included?
Six triple-slit hardened MICROMOT steel collets are included. These are the same precision collets used across the Micromot tool range.

Can I add a dividing attachment to the MF 70?
Yes — the Dividing Attachment for MF 70 and KT 70 (No. 24264) enables indexed rotary work directly on the MF 70 table.
