Description

Draw Out Deep Stains from Granite, Marble, Travertine & Limestone

Lustro Italiano Stain Remover Poultice Powder uses a poultice process to draw organic stains out of porous natural stone — oil, grease, wine, tea, coffee, mustard, and similar household stains that have penetrated below the surface. Mix with water to a paste, apply to the stain, cover, and let it work for 24–48 hours. As the poultice dries, it pulls the stain up and out of the stone.

Safe, chemical-free formula. Works on granite, marble, travertine, limestone, and other porous natural stone. 8 oz powder.

Key Features & Benefits

Poultice Action Draws Stains Out of the Stone

Unlike surface cleaners that work on top of the stone, a poultice penetrates into the pores and draws the stain out as it dries — the right approach for stains that have soaked into unsealed or lightly sealed stone.

Targets Organic Stains

Effective on oil, grease, wine, tea, coffee, mustard, and similar organic household stains. For rust stains, see Lustro Italiano Rust Remover Powder.

Chemical-Free Formula

No harsh chemicals — safe for use on natural stone surfaces without risk of etching or surface damage from the treatment itself.

Works on All Porous Natural Stone

Suitable for granite, marble, travertine, limestone, and other porous natural stone surfaces where stains have penetrated below the surface.

Compatible Surfaces

  • Granite
  • Marble
  • Travertine
  • Limestone
  • Other porous natural stone

How to Use

  1. Scoop out the needed amount of powder.
  2. Mix with water to a toothpaste consistency.
  3. Apply the paste over the stained area in a layer approximately ¼ inch thick.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and poke several small holes in the plastic with a toothpick.
  5. Leave for 24–48 hours until the poultice has fully dried.
  6. Remove the dried poultice — the stain will be drawn out with it.
  7. Clean the area and reseal with Lustro Italiano Stone Sealer if needed.

Note: Older or deeper stains may require multiple applications. Sealed stone may resist treatment — the poultice works best on unsealed or lightly sealed stone where the stain has penetrated the pores.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a poultice work?

A poultice is a paste applied over a stain and covered to slow drying. As it dries, capillary action draws the staining substance up out of the stone's pores and into the poultice material. When the poultice is removed, the stain comes with it.

What stains does it remove?

Organic stains — oil, grease, wine, tea, coffee, mustard, and similar household substances. For rust stains, use Lustro Italiano Rust Remover Powder instead.

Will it work on sealed stone?

Poultice treatment works best on unsealed or lightly sealed stone where the stain has penetrated the pores. Heavily sealed stone may resist treatment because the sealer limits penetration. If the stone is well-sealed, the stain may not have penetrated deeply and may respond to surface cleaning first.

How many applications will I need?

Light, fresh stains often respond to a single application. Older or deeper stains may require 2–3 applications. Allow the stone to dry fully between applications.

Do I need to reseal after treatment?

If the stone was unsealed or the sealer was compromised, reseal with Lustro Italiano Stone Sealer after treatment to protect against future staining.

Can I use it on marble?

Yes — the chemical-free formula is safe for marble and other acid-sensitive stones. It won't etch or damage the surface during treatment.
