Description

Remove Etch Marks, Restore Polish & Reseal Marble, Travertine & Limestone

The Lustro Italiano Professional Marble Etch Remover Kit is a complete 4-product system for repairing, restoring, and protecting marble, travertine, and limestone countertops damaged by acid etching. Etch marks — the dull spots left by lemon juice, vinegar, wine, bathroom cleaners, and other acidic substances — are surface damage to the stone's polish. This kit removes them, restores the shine, and reseals the stone for long-term protection.

Works on white marble (Carrara), green marble (Verde), black marble, brown marble, travertine (Emperador), and limestone.

Note: The Stone Sealer does not prevent etching. Etching is a chemical reaction between acid and marble's calcium carbonate that sealing cannot prevent. Avoid acidic substances on marble surfaces.

What's Included

The 5-Step Restoration Process

Step 1: Remove the Etch

Apply Etch & Water Mark Remover Powder to the affected area and rub by hand with a soft cloth in a circular motion for approximately 3 minutes. For severe etching, repeat until the polish is fully restored. The compound works both chemically and mechanically to re-polish the surface.

Step 2: Clean the Stone

Clean the entire surface with Natural Stone Cleaner. pH-balanced, no harsh detergents — safe for daily use and won't harm existing sealer.

Step 3: Allow to Dry Completely

Allow the surface to dry fully before sealing. Dry stone absorbs sealer more effectively, ensuring deeper penetration and better protection.

Step 4: Apply the Stone Sealer

Apply Stone Sealer with a brush, sponge, or paper towel. Allow to absorb for 5 minutes, wipe off excess. For first-time application, apply a second coat after 1 hour. Allow 6 hours before food contact. Wait 30 minutes between coats.

Step 5: Maintain with Polish Spray

Use Stone Polish & Sealer Spray 1–2 times per month. Spray on, allow to haze, wipe clean. Enhances shine, adds a protective layer, and maintains the sealer between full treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes etch marks on marble?

Etch marks are caused by acidic substances — lemon juice, vinegar, wine, tomato, citrus, and many household and bathroom cleaners — reacting with the calcium carbonate in marble, travertine, and limestone. The acid dissolves a thin layer of the stone's surface polish, leaving a dull spot. It's a chemical reaction, not a stain.

Does this kit include a stain remover?

No — this kit focuses on etch removal and resealing. If you also have organic staining (color in the stone), add Lustro Italiano Stain Remover Poultice Powder, or choose the Marble Stain & Etch Remover Restoration Kit which includes both.

How long does the etch removal take?

Light etch marks may respond within minutes of hand polishing. Severe etching may require up to an hour of gentle polishing, or multiple applications.

Does the sealer prevent future etching?

No. Sealing protects against staining, not etching. Avoid acidic substances on marble surfaces to prevent recurrence.

Can I use this kit on travertine and limestone?

Yes — all products are safe for marble, travertine, limestone, and other calcium-based stones.

How long does the seal last?

4–5 years on countertops under normal use. Maintain with the Stone Polish & Sealer Spray between full treatments.
